Derun’s forthcoming EP on Wonderwheel Recordings imparts distinctly global sounds directly to your speakers. On “O Galo Cantou Na Serra” and “El Dolor del Desengayo” Derun deftly pair latin folk vocals and percussion with byzantine guitar melodies to craft shamanic grooves that would transport any dancefloor to a higher plane. When Derun speak of rejecting boundaries through music and “touching different cultures in unusual ways”, one can only say that they have resoundly succeeded.
Istanbulite musicians Mert Eser and Mehmet Saatcioglu have been releasing diverse and cosmic deep house as Derun since 2018. Since their freshman release “Ates” on Athens-based label Bercana Music, Eser and Saatcioglu have since found success with subsequent releases on Voyeur Music, Cosmic Awakenings and Sol Selectas, not to mention infusing their own sound with that of others on a number of remixes for artists such as Valeron, Rapossa and Satori, among others. Derun’s unique blend of healing rhythms and diverse influences have seen them grace decks across Europe and North America, and propelled them into Beatport’s top 100 Electronica artists.
