“Rumba Tobacco y Ron” is a song born from the collaboration between the neighboring sister islands of Puerto Rico and Cuba. It all started when Nickodemus & Quantic recorded Tempo & The Candela All-Stars’ Mi Swing es Tropical in Puerto Rico, capturing the rhythm, bass, and horns. However, Tempo’s vocals were never completed, as he tragically passed away soon after. While in Cuba, Nickodemus crossed paths with Haydee Soul, and together they recorded the final lyrics and flute, giving birth to the song’s original version. Later, producer and remixer Ben Gomori reworked the track, crafting a chopped-up, electronic dance-floor remix that still retains some of the original piano, horns, and vocal stabs.
